Summary of your expertise and any current research projects:  We study the cytokine and chemokine response of the pulmonary systemic host defense systems in normal and compromised states using rodent models of bacterial infection.  Compromised states include acute alcohol intoxication and chronic alcohol consumption, systemic inflammation and trauma.  We study the effect of alcohol on infection transmission, pathogenesis, progression and efficacy of antiviral therapy using the rhesus macaque SIV model.
